It is with a very heavy heart that I write the following. My dog Danny Lee died this morning from an internal hemorrage. He started having seizures over the weekend, he died before I could get him to the vet this morning. I honestly did not think Danny's condition was that serious until 4:00 a.m. this morning, when the seizures became more frequent, and his breathing became labored. Prior to today, Danny was eating and drinking water normally, and even went on his walk last night. I am very sad, he is really going to be missed. I adopted Danny Lee from Northcentral Maltese Rescue on Oct. 31, 2005, you can find his photo on Happy Homes 2005, page 10. It seems like yesterday I picked him up from Mary Lou in Concord, North Carolina. Taking the trip up from St. Pete with my father, riding with Danny Lee on my lap the whole ride back. He was the best companion, outside of work, He was so healthy prior to today, died just shy of his 13th birthday, May 19, 2011. Danny Lee Clifton, 5/19/1998 - 4/4/2011. Please pass this sad news on to Mary Lou, I know Danny Lee had a very special place in her heart, and she was very sad to see him go to his forever home.
Thank-you for giving me the opportunity to adopt a troubled Maltese, rehabilitate him, and spend 6 of the best years sharing my life with him. When I am done grieving, I will be looking for another Maltese to share my life with, and I will not hesitate to contact you.
This picture (bottom) taken of Danny is really one of his last, it was taken yesterday, April 3, 2011, and just under 22 hours later, he was dead, he had obviously hemmoraged, he went really fast when it happened. I'm still in shock. On the bright side, Danny was able to spend his last weekend up at my parents, my father drove up with me to Concord when I picked up Danny.
The second photo (top) I'm proud of, I finally captured the glare Danny would give me while at the same time start to cry because you were eating something he wanted, so every time I prepared a meal, Danny would be at my side looking up. It was taken about 30 days ago. He was healthy and active, healthy appetiete, drank plenty of water, went on plenty of walks. I am still in shock, my dog has not been dead for 10 hours, this would have been his feeding time, it will be the first meal he has missed in almost 6 years.
I hope both pictures can be posted of Danny Lee, they real caught his fun personality.
