Max was adopted through Northcentral Maltese Rescue, Inc. in January, 2003, and has become a marvelous companion with a unique personality.  We were told he didn't like women and almost didn't get him because of that.  He growled a lot back then, mainly because he had been abused before and didn't trust anyone.  At home with us he has two friends, Micah and Casey, who have been in the family for over 13 years and are very mellow Maltese.  Max fit right in and began to show signs of trust, signs that increased over time until he is just a great friend and companion.  Max now loves to play ball and be loved.  He has to have a hug every morning and craves being held when TV time comes or when we just relax on the patio.  While he still growls a bit, it is because Max is just a very vocal dog and likes to talk with everyone he meets.  We have had groups of 20 or more at the house and he loves walking around stretching for everyone...to show them how cute he is.  In short, Max has successfully adopted us and become an integral part of our family life.  He has brought new life into our lives and is a pleasure every day.  Thank you for the opportunity to participate in this wonderful program.
