Bogie & Casper
with Vivian & Jack

Here are Bogie & Casper:   We adopted Bogie & Casper from their foster Mom, Alice, on July 24th, 2004, in Indiana and brought them back to Cincinnati with us. Bogie is 11 years old this month, and his buddy, Casper is about 6. We had a 16 year old Westie that we lost to old age several months before, which brought our dog count down to 3 (a male Shih-poo, another female Westie, and an old 15 year old Poodle-mix that's now blind and pretty much deaf). Since we're getting up in age, too, we wanted to adopt a little, older dog to join our family, and we found Bogie (Bogart is his official name) on the Northcentral Maltese Rescue site. By the time we applied and were approved, Bogie and foster Mom, Alice, had another Maltese, Casper, who Bogie bonded with right away. So rather than split up a friendship, we took both of them.
After almost 4 months, everybody has adapted to the new home, except Bogie and the female Westie, who for some unknown reason, dislike each other with a passion. We tried everything to get them together, but to no avail, so we just keep them separated with cages, doggie gates, etc. etc. They both seem comfortable with that arrangement and everybody is happy. Bogie is mellowing somewhat in his old age and doesn't quite get as excited when he sees Issy (the Westie). Casper is a happy little guy and gets along with everybody. His only problem is he is not fully housebroken and we have to remind him to go potty – outside. Thank goodness for belly bands!! We love both of the new additions to our family. After the groomer, they both turned out to be quite handsome guys!!
