About a week before I was scheduled for surgery and a move to a new home, we got a call about a dog in Sun City which is not far from us. We went to visit Rusty in her foster home and it was love at first site. (Rusty is not rusty but has a little apricot color on her ears and back.) Rusty's foster Mom was more than happy to keep her until I was recovered.
Well, we couldn't wait and two days after my surgery we picked up Rusty and brought her home. She was my constant companion during my six week recovery period. We walked, snuggled and kept each other company. What a joy!
We weren't so sure Rusty fit her so we decided to find a name close to Rusty. My husband thought of Roxie (one of the dancers in the film Chicago which is where we are from). And so Roxie it is.
She has stolen my husband's heart as well as mine. She is the first pet Ron has ever had and he is extremely happy we have her.
She has flown with us to visit our grandchildren and is a big hit with them. Alyssa, who is four, told me she would like to have a dog. I told her she should talk to her Daddy. She said, no, she would like to have Roxie. Well.....I told Alyssa I loved her very much but Roxie was Grandma's dog and I couldn't give her up, not even to her.
Last Saturday was our day for the blessing of animals at our church. Roxie got her blessing but Ron and I are the ones who feel truly blessed.
Thank you Northcentral Maltese Rescue, we hope you continue this wonderful service, we can never thank you enough!!

Our story begins with us having friends who own Maltese. We saw how much joy and love they gave and knew it was time for us to do something about it.
I searched several shelters and also looked online for a couple of months. When we discovered Northcentral Maltese rescue we were very happy. We sent in all the info needed and tried but were too late for a couple of dogs we thought would be a good match.
