I’d like to provide a little short letter that you can publish on your web site, in the “happily ever after” segment. You were good enough to call and match Peanut with me and my family of pets, another Maltese and a 16 year old cat. The fit could not have been better! Here goes!
After 27 years of marriage, and a heart breaking divorce, last Christmas, my sister thought that it would be a great idea if I looked at the Maltese rescue website. I had lost one of my two Maltese in August and didn’t realize that both Lambchop (my surviving Maltese) and I were so upset. Tears rolled down my face as I looked through the adopted rescue dogs. But, I was picky and wanted “one just like Casper”, (the Maltese I recently lost).
Shortly afterwards, you called to tell me that you had located a new “baby” for me. Within 48 hours, I was on my way to pick up this little guy that I had only seen from one picture. He looked so much like Casper and it was love at first sight. The family who had to give him up tearfully handed him over and away we went. Peanut whimpered once, about ½ mile from his former home, then immediately laid in my lap and slept all the way home.
Well, it has been six months now and Peanut acts as though he has never been anywhere else. Not only does he resemble my Casper, but he acts like him too! But, he also has his own special personality! Peanut is happy, healthy, spoiled, well behaved, and a great addition to this home. He and Lambchop are the best of buddies. Peanut has required little adjustment, and I would highly recommend that if someone is looking to bypass the initial “house breaking” segment, a rescue pup is the way to go. In my opinion, I got the bargain of the century in Peanut. Although he is nine years old, he acts like a puppy and loves life!! What a bundle of energy and love.
Thanks for your wonderful organization. I have proudly let everyone know that Peanut is a “rescue” dog. I encourage people to contact rescue services first. And, please do not support puppy mills. There are some great little dogs out there, just waiting for a new family to love!!! Every night, I tell Peanut how happy we are to have him as part of our “new” family. Incidentally, my friends, family and neighbors just love this little guy!!! Thanks again for putting the two of us together.

Note: Holly adopted Peanut on December 31st, 2004. On April 30, 2005 Holly wrote, "Peanut is GREAT!! Spoiled rotten, I tell you! Peanut acts like he has never lived anywhere else. He and Lambchop get along well. Max, the cat even is beginning to tolerate him. He certainly doesn't act like a 9 year old dog. That's what everyone says. I absolutely love him. Peanut has an 'ever, ever after' home here."
6-16-05: Well, this is my spoiled Maltese, Peanut, after 6 months in his new home. We talk every day, play, sit on the dock, play with the kids, play with Lambchop and Max, go to work, ride in the car, get invited into the bank all the time, get a nightly walk, go for boat rides, and have the run of the house. Peanut is wonderful.
