Our biggest event is the Maltese Picnic which is held yearly, and this year it is on June 29th, in Racine, Wisconsin. This is an important fundraiser for the care of our dogs, but just as importantly, it is a social gathering for anyone who has Maltese or other small dogs. There is fun for all who attend.
And the activities begin on Friday evening (June 28th) at 5 pm at the church to prepare and decorate the baskets for the auction on Saturday. Anyone in town on Friday is welcome to come help, and dogs are welcome, too. Pizza and drinks will be served for everyone who attends.
Arrive early on Saturday at 8:00 am to enjoy a continental-style breakfast (featuring the famous Racine Kringle) and meet old friends and new. Check in by 8:30 am to receive your name tags and sign up for the day's events.
Mary will kick off the day at 9:30 with a welcome and very important information. Auction items are on tables inside the tent. The Malt Shoppe is there to sell Maltese and dog related items, and a table is available with slightly used dog items for very reduced prices. Drinks can be purchased for $.50 each to take the edge off a hot Wisconsin day. Lunch is served around noon. There are always leftovers and snacks for a mid-afternoon pick-me-up.
Ongoing events occur throughout the day. A photographer will take family pictures, or an animal communicator will tell you what your dog is thinking. This is a time to renew old friendships and to meet new dogs and families.
By 9:30 am we hope everyone is checked in and found seating to start off the day.
