Pixie When She Arrived Rescue
Pixie came into rescue with a life threatening condition called a liver shunt. The shunt was very large. She was only a few months old and without surgery she would not survive for more than a few months. Northcentral Maltese Rescue (NMR) agreed to take Pixie, arranged for and paid for liver shunt surgery.
Pixie made a full recovery. The surgery was only possible because of generous and caring donors who were willing to give money to make the life-saving surgery possible. Today Pixie has been adopted out to a loving home.
Pixie On The Operating Table
Pixie is working on her titles for both obedience and agility. In this photograph you see Pixie with her trainer. Pixie is enthusiastically jumping over a beam. (A 4 inch high beam for a very small dog.) She is showing how agile she has become since the surgery!

Pixie is Miss Photogenic
Pixie is a spokes-dog for Northcentral Maltese Rescue. She now makes public appearances to demonstrate what a Rescue dog can accomplish. Pixie is at the NMR picnic which is held annually on the third Saturday in June, and if you attend the picnic you can meet her. The picnic is an important fund raising event for the Rescue. The Rescue is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization and donations to the Rescue are fully tax deductible.  All donations pay for our ever increasing veterinary expenses.
